For generations, Sunday football has been part of the heartbeat of Yarrawonga.
Our junior football program has a rich history in the Albury Wodonga Junior Football League (AWJFL), proudly developing hundreds of young players who have gone on to represent the Pigeons in senior Ovens & Murray competition — and beyond.
From Auskick right through to Under 16s, Yarrawonga’s junior footballers have carried on a tradition of hard work, sportsmanship, and community spirit that reflects everything our club stands for.
Sunday footy in Yarrawonga isn’t just a game — it’s a ritual. Families line the oval, volunteers man the canteen, and the next generation of Pigeons take flight.
Yarrawonga proudly fields three Sunday junior football sides in the Albury Wodonga Junior Football League:
Under 12s
Under 14s
Under 16s
The AWJFL is one of the strongest junior competitions across regional Victoria and southern NSW, and Yarrawonga has long been one of its cornerstone clubs.
Each season, our Sunday teams showcase the trademark Pigeon style — tough, team-first football played with pride and passion.
Our focus is on developing young footballers who:
Build strong fundamental skills and game awareness.
Demonstrate respect, leadership, and teamwork.
Learn what it means to represent Yarrawonga on and off the field.
Over the years, hundreds of Yarrawonga juniors have progressed through our AWJFL teams into O&M Thirds, Reserves, and Senior Football, carrying on a proud club tradition. Many of our senior premiership players and captains started their journey right here, under the Sunday sun in Pigeon colours.
Join us Wednesday 29th October at 5:30 pm for our first hit-out back together.
Bring your runners, water bottle, and energy — we can’t wait to see everyone back on the track ready for a big season ahead!
Pre-season training focuses on:
Building fitness and endurance
Sharpening clean ball skills
Enhancing game sense and communication
Reinforcing the Pigeon values of teamwork, effort, and respect
Our Under 16 program is the final step in the junior pathway — preparing players to transition seamlessly into O&M Thirds and Senior Football.
Our junior football program is the lifeblood of the Yarrawonga Pigeons.
From Under 12s through to Under 16s, every player is supported, challenged, and encouraged to grow both on and off the field.
This pathway not only builds strong athletes — it builds strong character. Our players learn the importance of teamwork, discipline, and community, creating a seamless bridge between Sunday football and the senior stages of the club.
At YFNC, we don’t just create footballers — we shape good humans.
We believe that junior sport teaches lessons that last a lifetime: resilience, empathy, respect, and connection. Every handball, tackle, and team huddle helps build confidence that carries beyond the oval and into every part of life.
Junior football at Yarrawonga embodies everything our club stands for: pride, passion, and people.
Our volunteer coaches, families, and supporters work together to create a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment where every young player feels they belong.
From their first goal in Under 12s to their final Sunday game in Under 16s, every player is part of something bigger — a proud football family built on tradition, teamwork, and heart.
